Welcome to the first of February and the downhill side of winter. We are just a few months away from spring, green landscape, and antenna work.
With the start of a new term for a Division Director comes some appointments and other duties. Please contact me directly about any of the following at [email protected]. Following those items is a list of upcoming activities in the Dakota Division.
I belief many are waiting for a report on the ARRL Annual Meeting. While I am waiting for some of the meeting documents are released here are a couple of items to note.
Field Day – The temporary rule waivers implemented in 2020 with remain for 2021 with one addition to the waivers. The addition is Class D & E stations will be limited to maximum of 150 watts power. The rule waivers allowed Class D stations to work everyone and allowed for a club aggregate score.
DX and Contest Advisory Committees (DXAC & CAC) – Prior to the board meeting many email reflectors and other social media venues had a lot of discussion about a possible motion to replace the DXAC & CAC with a different advisory committee structure. The motion was never presented to the Board as it appeared there was limited support for such a change. Instead, the Board and Program and Services Committee has committed to work with the two advisory committees to find ways to better utilize the expertise and experience on these committees.
